Live Bullet Lives Again!
Nearly thirty-six years ago Bob Seger first introduced The Silver Bullet Band to a surprised audience after the conclusion of a sold out BTO concert in Ann Arbor, MI. The rest is rock-n-roll history still in the making.
Lookin' Back is a forward-looking project comprised of six noteworthy Detroit-area musicians who have united to help keep Bob Seger's music alive and performed on Metro-Detroit and regional stages for the legions who profoundly identify with the man's poetry, energy and vast catalog of hits that now bridge five decades.
While tribute bands continue to pay homage to the usual rock-n-roll superstarsLed Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, U2, Elvis, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, KISS, AC/DC, Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, Journey and the Rolling Stones to name a handfulthe music of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band consistently gets overlooked, even in Southeast Michigan where it all began... UNTIL NOW!
Since our August 29, 2009 debut, Lookin' Back has headlined all 45 of their self-booked performances and amassed 17 sold out shows. In 2011 Lookin' Back realized a few dreams by performing for 11,000 Detroit Pistons fans at the Palace of Auburn Hills, rocked 100,000+ who attended the Howell Balloon Festival, was amazed by the 7,000 who came to Pride In Saginaw, and recently helped raise over $50,000 from the 3,000 who came to the GEM BEACH ROCKS concert.
Lookin' Back helped launch a best selling book entitled Travelin' Man written by Tom Weschler and Gary Graff about life on the road with Bob Seger. Other self-produced/promoted shows includes our 65th Bob Seger Birthday Bash at Tanglewood Golf Club and a 66th Birthday Bash at The Palazzo Grande. The band organized a Ted NugentAlice CooperBob Seger tribute triathlon concert, and the the world's first "Dueling Tribute" showcase (Stones vs. Seger) at The Canton Village Theater (400-seat sell out). Lookin' Back entertainment at seven municipal festivals, and rocked The Sands, The Little River, and Caesars Windsor Casino's a few times. But most importantly we're making our toughest critics (Detroit area musicians and Bob Seger fans) very happy every place we goLive Bullet Lives Again!
Rock N Roll Never ForgetsBUT entertainment buyers and concert event organizers often do. Here are but a few highlights as to why Bob Seger deserves a world-class tribute band, and consequently our undivided attention:
Bob Seger was inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Although Seger's history runs deep, we focus our current production primarily around his mid-70's era. In April of 1976 Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band had their big commercial breakthrough with the album Live Bullet which was recorded over two nights at Detroit's Cobo Arena in September 1975. The album remained on Billboard charts for 168 weeks, and peaked at #34 which was Seger's highest charting album at that time. It also contained a hit rendition of Nutbush City Limits (#69 US) as well as Seger's own classic take on life on the road- Turn the Page and his late 1960s successful releases Heavy Music and Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. Other hits on that record included Katmandu, Get Out Of Denver, Travelin' Man and Beautiful Loser. The success of Live Bullet gave rise to his blockbuster follow-up album Night Moves that put Bob Seger squarely and forever after on the national stage. Three-fifths of all initial sales of Live Bullet sold in Detroit-area record stores, and eventually reached 5x Platinum status. The Live Bullet record remains a music critic's favorite, 44th best selling album of the 70s, and for almost 20 years was one of the top 50 live albums of all time.
Bob Seger's 1986-1987 American Storm was to be Seger's last major tour which resulted in 105 shows over nine months, and sold nearly 1.5 million tickets. Most recently, Bob Seger's Greatest Hits compilation was named the nation's biggest selling compilation record of all time, selling nearly 10 million copies as of 2010.
With all that said, we've dedicated ourselves to delivering for our clients a world-class Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band experience on par with the genuine article we're sure everyone will both appreciate and enjoy.
